Time for the first layers of paint on this Texas Longhorn Painting.
Rich colors are just typical of colors associated with the Lone Star State. The state has five defined regions that go from Mountains, to Prairies, to Forests, to Beach to Deserts.  We are a strong state filled with great people and beautiful longhorns which I love to paint.

Adjusting the background lighter made the people appear to be traveling to the light. Note there is only on figure with an arm... and he is supporting comfort to the figure to his right. Seems we are all so busy in life going our own ways we often forget to reach out to someone.

Figurative Abstract ready to sit...over night

This is the sit and wait point. This is where I shot probably 50 images of different places on the canvas and study them, reverse them in photo shop and really dissect for color assimilation, blending and contrast.

I had some pre sketches.. before I started...

It is weaving together and is like a dance as I go. Sketching is recommended for most painting to have a destination in mind but know the journey may not be on a straight planned road. There are always new roads to explore along the way.

Finding the Figures

Now is the fun part...finding the figures. With my degree in commercial art and my emphasis in fashion illustration I have a lean toward the body and the angle and tucks most eyes miss. This will be fun trying to capture and balance this working wet on wet.  The anticipation is incredible.

Continuation of Abstract Figurative

Creating as you go is a totally unique experience. This is the signature beginnings of my painted pony horses that many artists try to imitate, but know the source was here in Golden Pond Studio and brought totally through the Holy Spirit in an answer to a prayer when I did NOT want to paint like anyone else and wanted my own voice doing my own work. This is now a step further to finding the figure in the pulls.
